We send you forth from our side
Not to leave us but to take our faith and love
With you in your heart wherever you go.
We do not say goodbye or farewell
But rather Godspeed you on your way
To bring good news to the poor
Comfort to those who mourn.
Restoring liberty to captives
Courage to the oppressed
Your answer to God’s call
Lightens our sadness
At seeing you leave.
May your sacrifice be a sign
Of your love for God’s people.
May your presence be living proof
We give them our very best.
